People's faces have always been one of my favourite drawing subjects. The eyes are the big challenge to give a person life and character. Like good 'ol Mr. Armstrong used to sing:

This picture is not mine, but it's made by one of my favourite Dutch ' old masters' Anton Pieck (1895-1987). In 1952 he opened the first European themepark based on his designs; fairypark The Efteling (based in The Netherlands).
This was even before Disneyland opened it's gates for the first time in 1955.
I get a lot of inspiration of Pieck's illustrative work. That's why he deserves a nice place on my blog. :)

Well I couldn't really leave this one out, another Gráinne (she's very popular with me as I'm doing a pitch for her)...maybe I should dedicate a blog to her after all....
This is the first one I ever did of her....and I was thinking between dress or pants....I guess she would have been rather annoyed with a skirt blowing skywards while she hung in the masts....
hmmm...maybe that one's next....

Her name is Gráinne Mhaol and better known as the legendary "Pirate Queen" Grace 'O Malley.
This one is based on the song 'Oró, sé Do Bheatha Abhaile'.
Don't worry, she never died this way...I just like drama...

The Happy Hill of Moons

This Background is pretty old and still contains a lot of detail, compared to the current SkunkFu! location designs. It features in one of the earlier Episodes. This Location is called 'The Happy Hill of Moons' and shows how Dragon's territory used to be like a paradise, when Dragon and Panda where still young friends.
